Marriage is what brings us together

 THEN COMES MARRIAGE

So... you've made a prayerful decision. You have received confirmation from the Holy Ghost as to who to marry. You communicate well, have common interests and backgrounds and you have strived to become someone worthy of the person you are marrying.  Congratulations!

The Family: A Proclamation to the World states that, "marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God." Marriage in the House of the Lord is a covenant marriage that extends beyond our life on earth into the Eternal Kingdom.  While the temple is the best place to start your marriage, it does not guarantee a "Happily Ever After."

A true covenant marriage requires dedication to God and to each other. It requires friendship, love, proper communication, and balance.

"The Lord intended that the wife be... a companion equal and necessary in full partnership... For a man to operate independent of or without regard to the feelings and counsel of his wife in governing the family is to exercise unrighteous dominion."
President Howard W. Hunter

"An eternal bond doesn't just happen as a result of sealing covenants we make in the temple. How we conduct ourselves in this life will determine what we will be in all the eternities to come. To receive the blessings of the sealing that our Heavenly Father has given us, we have to keep the commandments and conduct ourselves in such a way that our families will want to live with us in the eternities."
Elder Robert D. Hales

Being sealed in the temple provides the greatest foundation and sense of peace during turmoil that the Lord could offer. When times get difficult... and they will- those who are married in the temple can turn to those sweet feelings they initially received when they got married in the House of the Lord. They can recall those sacred blessings and covenants as they knelt hand in hand across the altar.

The temple seals your family together forever. It will give peace as a difficulties as a couple. It provides peace as the parent of a wayward child. It gives peace through loss and death. It gives peace through heartache and trials.

"From the teachings of Joseph Smith through the teachings of the prophets of our day, the message of hope is this: temple covenants save families."
